When digestive health is out of balance, it is common to see a rise in symptoms, or flare ups in allergic conditions including asthma and eczema. This is due to the important link between our gut health and the lungs (termed the gut-lung axis) and our gut health and the skin (termed the gut-skin axis).

These healthy treats are packed with fibre and nutrients to promote optimal digestive health.

Serving size: 1-2 balls daily. Adjust dose according to bowel motions.

½ cup pitted prunes

½ cup sultanas

½ cup plain almonds - raw or roasted (skin kept on)

½ cup desiccated coconut

1 tablespoon cacao powder

¼ cup ground flaxseed (freshly ground is best)

Method:

Add all ingredients into a food processor or high speed blender and blend until the ingredients start to come together into a sticky dough. Shape into small balls and roll in extra coconut. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.

Warning: over consumption may have a laxative effect.

For those with nut allergies: substitute the almonds with sesame seeds, sunflower seeds or a mixture of both.

These are a great addition to school lunchboxes!
